Human Design vs. MBTI
In short
A birth-data system and a questionnaire-based personality typology. What each one is and what it is not.
What each one is
Human Design is calculated from birth data and combines astrology, the I Ching, the chakra system and other traditions. The MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) is a self-report questionnaire that sorts preferences into 16 types; it is a trademark of The Myers-Briggs Company.
How the result comes about
Your Human Design chart does not depend on how you answer questions; it follows from the moment of birth. An MBTI result depends on your answers and can change if your self-image or situation changes.
Scientific status
Neither should be treated as a validated diagnostic tool. The MBTI is widely used in coaching and teams, while its reliability is debated in psychological research. Human Design is a spiritual and symbolic system without scientific validation.
How to use them
Both can be prompts for reflection. Human Design emphasises energy and decision-making; MBTI describes preferences in perceiving and judging. Use whatever helps you notice yourself more clearly, and hold any type lightly.
